Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
Received a letter from the LinkGroup this week, asking if I want to exercise my entitlement to the whopping value of the ONE WHUFC share I used to own before the WH Holdings (GSB) takeover.

I used the share to attend AGMs during the BrownOut days.

To be honest, I'd completely forgotten about the fact that I didn't cash it in after the Icelandic disaster. The share is now worth a whopping £4.21 (I know, drinks on me).

But couple of Qs spring to mind:

a) Has anybody else been contacted about this recently?
b) Is this an indicator of some movement in the boardroom?

This seems quite bog standard to me. But a mate of mine, who knows a bit more about these sorts of things, claims this sometimes happens when boards are in the midst of financial disclosures linked to potential takeovers - as it helps them (legally) to show how much of the club they actually own and to give a realistic value of future claims (by shareholders) against the club.

Is it a coincidence that WH Holdings have engaged this firm to find unclaimed shareholders more than ten years after they took over?

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
I bought a share a long time ago too.

But Im sure I got a letter with a cheque saying my share had been sold during one of the takeovers (Icelandics?).

Not heard anything since.

One share in WH Holding today is worth about £175,000.

Assuming that the club is worth £600m, there's 3,438 shares in the company.

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
I've had the same letter; seem to recall receiving one a couple of years ago telling me my share was being forcibly taken over. I seem to recall paying £9 for it back in the Brown Out days, so for it to now be worth half that is indicative of how shit this club is run.

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
You don't own any shares in WH Holding - not even part of the 1.1% other investors.

The shares were all compulsory purchased years ago and you got paid for your shares if you returned the certificate. If you didn't return the certificate you still had your share purchased - you just weren't paid for it.

This is simply some admin tidying up as you are still showing on the accounts as a creditor who is owed money.

You can't sell the shares as you no longer own them - you can sell the share certificate as an item of memorabilia - but that's all it is.

You can find the complete list of current shareholders and how many shares they have in the latest Confirmation Statement filed at Companies House on the 29th December 2021:

I would get £42 minus fees (Not specified for my 10.

Not worth my time or effort.

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
I got it too. Seem to remember they were all compulsory purchased when GSB took over. Only ever had one and I think you had to return the certificate at the time so I didn’t bother as it was a present from my kids.

Yeah I got one.

An ex girlfriend bought me a share as one of my Christmas or birthday presents, can't remember which. It was a bloody long time ago, I have been married to Mrs C for 8 years and together for nearly 14.

The total I'm owed, minus their fee and VAT means its not worth the hassle. It will be donated to the Public Court Fund.

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
So there must be something afoot in terms of a takeover bid.

Not necessarily.

You can take the club over, by just buying the majority shareholders out. Our shareholders are:-

David Sullivan 38.8%
David Gold 25.1%
WHU LLC* 8.0%
Other investors 1.1%
1890s holdings a.s** 27.0%

*The ultimate owner of WHU LLC is J Albert Smith.
** The ultimate owner of 1890s holdings a.s is Daniel Křetínský.

I really don't think all of us with one share in the 1.1% "other investors", is going to make the slightest difference, in a takeover bid

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
Yes I had the same letter earlier this week. For my one share they are charging 15% plus VAT. It probably costs Link Group more in administration and postage to cover the £4.22 mine is apparently worth. So there must be something afoot in terms of a takeover bid.

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?

It seems to me that we're all ex-shareholders who just didn't cash in the value of the shares that were bought when GSB took over. So, in theory, WH Holdings owes us £4.21.

I presume our shares were bought/transferred by GSB when they took over.

Is that right?

So Brady owes me £4.21. You don't want to be in debt to me, Karren!

£4.21 is actually the share price when the Icelandics purchased West Ham in 2006.

https://www.investegate.co.uk/wh-holding-limited/rns/offer-for-west-ham-united-plc/200611210701014047M/

I don't know if individual shareholders had their one share compulsory purchased, by either the Icelandics or the dildos or if we still own one share.

Either way there is no claim on West Ham, but potentially on who ever bought/buys West Ham, the major shareholders.

Must admit, any paperwork I've received, I haven't actioned, in any way.

Oh, Karen says for your £4.21, would you like a go on her, for 4 minutes and 21 seconds?

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
WH Holding is a private limited company so could be part of a due diligence process prior to a takeover or buy-in.

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
There doesn't seem to be an option to confirm or claim the share - just the unclaimed monetary value of it.

LinkGroup say they've been appointed by WH Holdings (GSB), so they must be expecting some financial claims.

Couldn't give a rat's ass about £4.21, obviously. But the timing is interesting. Unless this is Brady's mate Rishi helping me with the cost of living crisis..!

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
Bit weird, innit, Fo?

I have no idea whether this means something is afoot, or whether this is just WH Holdings tidying up its records (assets/liabilities).

Certainly a blast from the past. I last made full use of the share to attend an AGM around which I had a row with Terry Brown and his stooges.

Re: Anybody been contacted on behalf of WH Holdings?
I had one of those letters too yesterday. No idea what it's all about.
I think I acquired my single share for the same reason as you.
